Water Softener Installation in Orlando

Water Softening Experts in Orange City, FL

Nearly 90 percent of American homes are affected by hard water according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS)*. Florida has some of the hardest water in the United States, the Tampa Area ranks in 6th place. There is a growing concern about the purity and safety of the drinking water. Would you like to put these worries to rest? First Quality Plumbing can help you.

What is hard water and how can it affect you?

As water moves through soil and rock, it absorbs a very small amount of minerals and holds them inside the solution. The two most common minerals are calcium and magnesium. These make the water “hard.”  The larger the calcium and magnesium content, the harder the water becomes. Although it is not dangerous, it can be a tremendous nuisance.

Hard water affects every cleaning task from washing dishes to personal grooming. Items washed in hard water may feel scratchy and harsh. Dishes and glasses may be spotty when dry. Shower walls, glass shower doors, shower walls, bathtubs, faucets and sinks have a film. That film is most likely from hard water. Personal grooming, like washing your hair or shaving, can feel sticky and cause your hair to look less lustrous.

The “quick” solution would be to continuously clean all the residue where the water runs but usually a built-up film makes that difficult. Many cleaning products are less effective when mixed with hard water because active ingredients are partially weakened by the hardness, even though the substance looks to be dissolved. Hard water can contribute to higher utility bills due to the inefficient operation of water-using appliances.
